Why does it look like a
trash can? Because trash cans are so common, they are nominally
"invisible" to us. This "invisible," discreet, stealth coop can be owned
less conspicuously than most other designs.
Our society is full of
conflicting values. In an effort to protect ourselves from disease, we
have created rules against homeowners having "farm animals." Despite the
fact that backyard flocks sustain vast portions of the world population,
some nearsighted city governments and home owner associations have inserted language in
their ordinances and agreements blocking home owners from keeping
chickens. At the same time, industrialization and factory practices have
made the chickens and eggs in the supermarket increasingly unhealthy. For
definitive information on these health risks read

Since 1999, Egganic
Industries has provided homeowners with innovative chick
en
coops. For over four years, we have been aware of the need for a coop that
would be "invisible" in the often very small yards of housing
developments. The Henspa Gazebo
TM
and the Hen Chalet
TM
were both designed to
be "eye friendly". The HenCondo
TM
incorporates solid chicken house
functional features with a unique design that is intended to become as
invisible as possible to the eyes of people passing through a
neighborhood. Trash cans are so common that we seldom "see" them. The
trashcan profile of the HenCondo
TM
reduces the likelihood of it being
recognized as a chicken coop.
Circles provide the most
efficient use of wall length for creating ground space. The white
walls of the "house" are made of recycled vinyl billboard material that is
exceptionally strong and long lasting, especially in landfills where most
of this material ends up if it is not recycled. (Strong in landfills is
not good. Strong in chicken houses is good.)
The HenCondo
TM
is easy to
assemble, easy to move and economical. Although it only holds three hens,
if you would like a larger flock, you can have two or three units. Many
people have three trashcans in their yard. Having three HenCondos is much
less likely to be noticed than a
Henspa
TM
.
The cost of three HenCondos is about the same as the cost of a Henspa
TM

There is
a nest in a well
protected area.
The chickens will roost on
the edge of the nest.
The pad comes out
easily for quick cleaning.
Wire under the nest
allows dust and dirt to fall through to the ground and provides a
spring like surface for the hens enjoyment.
The lid snaps shut keeping out
predators.
The HenCondo

arrives in 2 cardboard boxes. Assembly takes about 90 minutes.
A child can move the HenCondo
