It takes about 22 weeks from
hatching for a pullet to begin laying eggs. She can lay for several years with about eight
weeks break for molting each year.
Day-old chicks are available from February through
September at most hatcheries. Minimum quantities of 12 - 25 are required to assure the
chicks warmth during transport. Instructions for care are included on most hatchery
literature. Please read the hatchery literature carefully.
